This occured to me the other day and it's been bugging me ever since. If you have a dog, and you walk that dog, and that dog takes a crap on a field, road or path. By law, you are required to scoop up that crap, and dispose of it... right? SO WHY.... if you're in a public field or on a public road on a horse, and that horse takes a crap ten times the size of anything a dog can do are you NOT required to scoop up the crap and dispose of it?? Yours sincerely, Snoozy, who's always driving to avoid horse crap on roads in country lanes.

Why is horse poo good for your garden but dog poo isn't? Always wondered about that...

how did i just know this was a snoozy thread by looking at the title??
i think its cos the people on the horses can pretend to be oblivious to it when it happens, cos they're always facing the other way.. it doesn't always work when your walking the dog and prentend to not notice the huge pile of crap it leaves on the neighbours garden.. not that i have any experience of that of course

I used to a dog that ate horse shit whenever he saw it. So I never cleaned his poo up as I claimed it was the horseshit that made him do it!

Dog poo has high nitrogen levels... high levels of nitrogen in soil can damage the roots of plants and cause them to burn away in some cases.
Horse poo isn't high in nitrogen and is therefore good for plants.

but why aren't they obliged by law to pooper scooper it allllllllllll up into a nice bag and take it home?? Because it saves the local council from having to buy the stuff. The more money they save by not having to purchase trivial stuff like this is more money to line their pockets with!

How you supposed to pick it up if it's a sloppy one? Horses are just a menace. Except the ones in the Nutri-Grain adverts. Think one of em lives near Lorne......"so soft n cakey!"

Think one of em lives near Lorne......"so soft n cakey!" I'm sure the word "like" is missing from the end of that quotation?
