I have another poo related question.... After a rather lovely meal last night of which corn on the cob was served, I noticed after a call of nature and I may add a few flushes of what can only be described as the worlds most sea worthy completely unsinkable vessel. I couldn't but notice on close inspection full unbroken un chewed sweet corn??? I was always told to chew my food properly, so how can this be? is it that sweet corn is invincible or magic? If this is the case where does it all go? because there must be so much of it, It must amount to a small island.

It's because the outside of the corn is composed of cellulose, which is indigestible by humans. We do not have the means to break this down. Other indigestible foods are Albumen (egg white) and non-starch polysaccharides (dietary fibre) The richest sources include bran, wholemeal cereals, wholemeal bread, fruit and vegetables, beans, peas and lentils. A high fibre intake promotes gastrointestinal health. As fibre absorbs and retains water it lubricates the alimentary canal and reduces the chances of constipation.
