Okay heres a thang. You know I've been having big probs with my back of late (what with being really old and stuff)? Well I went to the chiropractor the other week (stick with me I'm drinking Jim Beam and Dandelion & Burdock so his might tske a while) and he started my treeatment of pulling and pushing and generally abusing my body in a purely professional manner. ANYWAY, he said that it'd get worse before it got better etc. ANyway.. went to see Airbourne on Thursday and - lets say - I gave the ball a bit of a kick. Woke up on Friday and my neck, shoulder blades and right arm were complete agony. And I mean AGONY. So much so that for once I came home early from work and didn't go out Friday or Saturday and didn'tsleep for 2 nights. Now I think it's something kicked off by the chiropractor.. however, Mrs Wave says she came down stairs on thursday night/friday morning at 3 am and found me catching some Z's on the setee looking like I'd been dropped fronm a great height and THAT'S whats up with my arm. I don't know who to believe.. so we've been out for chinese and beer tonight and I'm getting ready to fall into the arms of Morpheus again with the help of a little Jim Beam. Let the chiropractor dispell the beer related frozen shoulder myths tomorrow eh?
ANYWAY.. my mate Dogs Nob says that whilst he was on the rigs there was a big dude who worked in the canteen. He was a hefty chap who liked a BIG drink whilst on dry land. Apparently he went off on leave and didn't return. When someone asked why he hadn't come back someone said he had lost his arm after a heavy nights drinking. NOW do you think this is possible? By all accounts this big guy drank himself senseless, went home to an empty house.. started off upstairs virtually comatose.. and fell back down knocking himself senseless. He then proceeded to sleep for something around 9-10 hours laid on his arm. When he eventually woke up his arm was dead... literally. It had attrified (sp) due to his weight laying on it and he had to have it amputated!! now thats drunk.

yes Wavey, theoretically it's possible. Pins and needles are the bodies way of saying 'hey, the blood supply aint' right, move yerself' If you are comatose and the signals aren't heeded then nerve damage and tissue damage ensue (necrosis) because oxygenated blood cannot nourish the flesh. Thought someone would have mentioned Tommy Bolin here who did just that when sleeping on his arm after doing the needle back in 1975/6. He lost most of the use in his left arm whilst on tour in Japan, and sped up the demise of Deep Purple III. Shakey
