Haha.. just reading Planet Rocks DJ Darren Reddicks blog about Rhodes Rock... why is this report not a surprise hahaHot in the shade: Day 4 I'll try to get some video up on this, but yesterday was a high-water mark for sure. Literally. Remember I said we were going out on a boat? Well, yes.
When you think of glass-bottom boats, what do you think of? I imagine a pleasure cruise looking at stuff that you wouldn't normally see cause it's underwater. Right?
Well, we had the nautical equivalent of Freddie Krueger and Saw combined for a captain. He floored the throttle and off we went at breakneck speed....toward any small cluster of rocks, reefs or beaches. Crazy Ivan laughing maniacally, finally turning at the last possible minute, while we all screamed!
I am sure he thought we were screaming out of the thrill of being nearly dashed on the rocks, but in reality I found out later, we were all scared shitless.
The upside is that we lived. And at one point we did drop anchor and had a swim in a rather magnificent cove. It must be mentioned here that John (Bon Scott) from Live/Wire is a man among men. No he didn't save anyone from drowning or invent a cure for anything that I am aware of, but the man went all Hercules at the Olympics; armadillos etc. (naked) And into the water he went. And back up on to the boat. And back in the water. Aaaaaand back on the boat. Slightly intimidating actually.
A little too Wiener Fest for comfort, truth be told. But once he was dressed again, a terrific guy.
Here is a snap of my daughter and me on the boat before the death ride commenced. We look relaxed.
