You know 'It's A Wonderful Life' ? won many an oscar etc etc etc, meant to be the best film EVER! One of me Dad's favs, and was one of mine. I watched it NYE (yeh how exciting!) and today I think - how gullible am I? Watching all these old B&W movies - the way I've been brought up with this film, and 'White Christmas' and 'An Affair to Remeber' and 'Wuthering Heights' Was life ever really so romantic? I've really been hypnotised by stupid romantic films, life isn't like that It's A Wonderful Life - is a LOAD OF BOLLOX - No one cares about each other like that - it's a load of bollox and it's taken me til tonight to realise it! I am going to FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET! LOL to that! Now come on, recommend a film that isnt full of sh**! A REALITY film! It's a wonderful life my a*se!! ha ha

Hi HV. It has been said recently that films especially the lovey dovey girly romantic films have given us girls an unrealisticly high expectation of romance from men and has left us dissatsified with what we have got. I would agree with that, although I personally don't get affected by films like that, ( well only for about 5 mins...lol). Romance and love in films, it doesn't often work that way in real life. However you can learn a few tricks from the naughty bits of you know what I mean....lol Problem is the films are so good they make us feel that it should be that way and that if its not its not love. Puts the poor chaps under alot of pressure as well. They are suffering enough with having to cope with independant women who won't have thier dinner on the table when they get home from work or do thier washing. I will tell you a secret--- I HAVE NEVER DONE A BLOKES WASHING NEVER NEVER EVER EVER!!!! and I never will. Oh I may stretch to hanging it up when clean, but thats it..... lol Have you seen Australia yet--- great romantic film sob sob sob mushy stuff etc..

Dead Mans Shoes. British film available on 4od. Its a brilliant performance by Paddy Considine and directed by Shane Meadows.
The story revolves around the character of Richard (Paddy Considine), a paratrooper returning to his small home town of Matlock in the Peak District. Richard has returned home to exact revenge on his mentally disabled younger brother Anthony's (Toby Kebbell) tormentors. In the opening line of the film, Richard narrates: "God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I can't live with that."
Watch it, its awesome

Saw a cracker on Saturday night... Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. Flippin eck, proper powerful moving stuff. About the 8 year old son of a well to do WW2 German Kommandant who is sent to oversee a concentration camp. His family are blissfully unaware of where they are - for a while. Eventually the little lad goes exploring and makes friends with a little lad on the other side of the barbed wire. I won't give it away but what an ending.. gripping, upsetting, thought provoking film. It should be shown in schools.. and to anyone with an 8 year old kid IMHO.

No.. just rented it Sue.
Here's a corker I watched at 8 oclock this morning (i get up early on a sunday for 2 hours of peace haha).. it was an oscar winner in 1958.. The Old Man and the Sea. Its adapted from an Ernest Hemmingway book. This old geezer goes out fishing for Marlin and catches one as big as his boat, he struggles for a couple of days to land it, all the time talking to himself and examining his life.. he eventually gets it and ties it to the side of his boat. Injured and knackered he attempts to sail home (the fish having dragged him days off course), he has to fend off sharks who feed off the huge fish and eventually wear him down.. its a cracking film.. honest haha

which? Old Man & The Sea? what did you think? I was gripped.. top notch stuff.
Saw another good un on Sky tneet.. Cloverfield. Very odd. Its just a typical monster flick in many ways but the Blair Witch style filming makes it well weird.. tremendous!
