What it says on the tin... tell us about any films you've seen that we ought to see.
Watched a great film tonight - very thought provoking ( so not a saturday night special ) - Paranoid Park. Young skater dude gets caught up in a murder investigation.
Watched a really grim but brilliant film yesterday directed by Harvey Keital called The Grey Area. About the jews in Auschwitz who lengthened their life by working in the gas chambers. It wasn't a musical but flipping eck what a great film.

He had a cartload of films amongst his birthday stuff last week and Quadrophenia is one of his all time faves. Reminds me of school. Bell Boy? ?!!!

Watched a really grim but brilliant film yesterday directed by Harvey Keital called The Grey Area. About the jews in Auschwitz who lengthened their life by working in the gas chambers. It wasn't a musical but flipping eck what a great film. Saw that, couldne keep my eyes off the screen. I hated myself for being a human after seeing that, cos thats what human nature is capable of.. God, i got loadsa favourite films. Love Almost Famous cos its so personal to Cameron Crowes life, he even went to specific locations where events, included so many personal things in the film.. for exapmle his mums posters and red dress back from the 70's. Listen to the commmentary of him and his mum, its hilarious. Was recently introduced to Fatal Attraction.. i think thats great directing, it captures so much emotion. One i bought cos it was on sale, Freedom Writers. Based on a true story about a school of mostly black people who get outta their tough lives by writing. Id recomend it to anyone, its a great film. Got 'greatest film ever made' Citizen Kane too.. will watch it when i have 3 hours to spare!

haha Fatal Attraction.. that film makes married blokes squirm so much. Funnily enough my daughter saw it for the first time recently and she loved it. A proper slice of the 80s for sure.

haha Fatal Attraction.. that film makes married blokes squirm so much. Wonder why haha... A classic for sure. and loaded with the emotion of the situation Also significant is how easily our married man Micheal Douglas(aint it always) is so readilly seduced in the 1st place. He didnt have to go there but he did. cos he's weak. Like so many guys. Does the fact that she turns out to be a total nutjob make it any worse? He coulda said No but he didnt want to.. and he didnt tell his wife until he had NO choice. Does it matter she was a psycho stalker?? he should have fessed up asap anyway. thats my take on it. Music Box.. with Jessica Lange.. always was one of mys favs. Just Brilliant.

It DOES matter that she was a pycho, cos thats what made him see the light... & if he's so blind as to be seduced by someone like that then he doesnt deserve to go back to his wife when its all finished. Anyone could tell what kinda person she is by her mannerisms, the way she lives her life, how sex=love in her eyes. You can tell. He should never have pretended he was available for her in the first place, thats probably what pushed her over the edge. Men CAN resist temptation, no matter how very important a one night stand will ever be. And he shouldve told his wife as soon as it happened, instead of letting it grow out of proportion so far that he hurt those closest to him.. those who REALLY love him. She probably left him after, & he ends up with nothing. And for what?
I like it when the wife shoots her in the end ;D
Fight Club, its works on lots of levels, & i love the twist at the end.

Nothing worse than been shot in the end.
It is uncomfortable watching for a married bloke though. Makes you wonder how you'd react if it was on a plate like that (or a sink in their case haha).. I'm pretty sure it'd never even happen anyway but I reckon the thought of what you'd lose at least should put you off. Fantastic film.
What do you reckon to Quadrophenia? When I was coming up to leaving school, 15-16ish, the whole Mod revival thing came along on the back of this film. I pretended to hate the music at the time but secretly liked most of it. We all went to the local flea-pit (RIP) to see it. I love a good 'social history' type film, and this is one of the best IMHO a real slice of life.
Another I LOVE is Kes. Anyone seen that? It's set in Barnsley but the whole section filmed in the school could easily have been set in my school. The classroom settings and the old style teachers (despotic ex-grammar school teachers trapped in 'new' comprehensives) are just like ours were.

The Fastest Indian, great true story film about breaking speed records on motor bikes, an old boy( played by the great Antony Hopkins) has a go on very old bike.
Erin Brockovich- another brill true story Schindlers List -another true story, very harrowing and one which I usually cry throughout and then wonder why humans can be so bloody cruel to each other......... Mamma Mia- really good feel good film, brilliantly well done with incorporating the songs lyrics directly into the story... very clever... All the Terminator films- can't wait for number 4 to come out. Saving Grace- very very funny about and old girl who gets involved in growing weed........
Just some films that I have enjoyed....
Reason for Editing: gave the end of the story way!!!
